Vanilla Custard Filling Added: Dec 24, 2024 A simple vanilla custard filling, useful for tarts (or alone by itself in a bowl). Ingredients 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 cups milk 2 egg yolks, lightly beaten 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Directions In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, flour and salt. Stir in milk until smooth. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes longer. Remove from the heat. Stir a small amount of hot filling into egg yolks; return all to the pan. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir 2 minutes longer. Remove from the heat. Gently stir in vanilla.
